The purpose of the Security Fitness Training Center (SFTC) replacement project is to provide a new LEED Gold certified building to replace functions currently housed in building B312 and temporary buildings B2701 and B278.

Envisioned as a design-build, single-story pre-engineered building of approximately 6,000 to 7,000 square feet, the facility will contain an area for physical fitness training of approximately 3,000 square feet as well as an area for weaponless defense training of approximately 3,800 square feet. Both training areas will share the main entrance and locker room facilities.

Functions in the physical fitness area include one office with two workstations, circuit/group training area for the use of free weights, 14 cardio machines and an equipment storage room. Locker rooms for men and women will be included adjacent to the physical fitness area. Each locker room will include lockers, showers, sinks, and toilets per client requirements. A custodial closet will be common to both locker rooms.

Functions in the training area include one workstation, a weaponless defense training area of approximately 1,925 square feet, a firearms simulation training area of 800 square feet, and separate storage areas for training equipment and inert weapons.

Once final placement of the building is determined, traffic circulation within the existing parking lot will need to be examined and reconfigured as required. The existing fire lane will need to be relocated per the final site configuration. Utilities are provided in close proximity to the proposed site area. Based on requirements that Aetypic encountered during the construction of building B275, stormwater treatment will be necessary for the new Security Fitness and Training Center.

The completed Security Fitness and Training Center will strive to complement the overall “campus” feel of the adjacent security buildings.
